Anchors include AEON, Parkson, Harvey Norman, MR.DIY and a Golden Screen Cinemas multiplex with nine halls and 1,570 seats. Developed by the SP Setia Lendlease joint venture, it sits in the Setia Alam township — which carries a Shah Alam postcode — with the Setia City Convention Centre attached.
It is the polished family option: wide circulation, a strong mix of department store and big-box retail, and enough parking to absorb a weekend. The trade-off is that it sits on Shah Alam’s northwestern edge, so it is a drive rather than a walk from the city-centre seksyens.
Central i-City — the newest
Central i-City opened on 15 June 2019 with 926,000 sq ft of net lettable area and 365 stores across six floors — more individual tenants than Setia City Mall, in a more compact, vertical footprint. It is a joint venture between Thailand’s Central Pattana (60%) and i-City Properties (40%), which shows in the international-mall feel. Anchors are Sogo, TGV Cinemas and Village Grocer, and a DoubleTree by Hilton sits next door.
Its real advantage is what surrounds it: the mall is built into the i-City leisure park in Seksyen 7, so a shopping trip can fold into the attractions, the hotel and the after-dark crowd. That makes it the default for weekend outings and for visitors, and the busiest of the three on a Saturday evening.
SACC Mall — the central one
SACC Mall sits beside the Shah Alam Convention Centre in the city-centre core, near Seksyen 14. It is the smallest of the three headline malls and does not try to compete on scale — its value is position. For anyone living or working in the central seksyens it is the closest option for daily errands, a quick meal or a bank branch, and it benefits from convention traffic next door.
